BIS comes out with standards for USB-C charging

The Indian government is planning to introduce two charging standards in India USB Type-C for mobiles, tablets, etc & another port for wearables to reduce e-waste, BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) has come out with quality standards for USB Type-C charging port according to Consumer affairs Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh also added: “We have to align with the European Union (EU) timeline i.e. 2024 because the mobile and electronics makers have a global supply chain and they don’t supply to India alone.” IIT Kanpur is working on a single charging solution for wearables. by PTI
